One Room Challenge Week 2: Prep Work

Powerwashing

My dad helping me powerwash the house.

There are two major challenges that have made themselves apparent this week in my One Room Challenge. 1. The weather plays a huge factor in this project since it is outdoors. 2. I am not as young and spritely as I once was.

I grossly underestimated the importance of the weather in this project. It constantly rains where I live (technically it’s a rainforest), so when it’s raining, I can’t really be working on the porch. I’ve also been battling my shoulder. I thought the painting would be hard on my bad shoulder, but turns out the prep work has almost already done me in. My shoulder has frozen up again and I’m doing everything in my power to fix it– including acupuncture– which I’ve been too afraid to try in the past. But now is the time to buck up and conquer those fears because I now have a little less than a month to finish this project. Eeeek!!

Here’s what we did get done this week:

  • Pulled and dug up up bushes
  • Cleaned out the gutters
  • Raked up leaves from the yard
  • Cut down a few minor trees on the side of the house
  • Powerwashed the entire house, porch and porch furniture to prep for paint
  • Spread lime and grass seed

If you checked out Week 1, you’ll notice that a lot of this wasn’t even on the list. LOL. I’ve been naive about this project.

Special thanks to my dad who came up to help me powerwash the house and ended up doing most of it himself because the powerwasher was acting up. And because he’s particular 😉

Be sure to check out the other guest participating in the One Room Challenge here. And the designers here.

Great house you found, we live small in 725 sq. Ft. And bought our forever house of 1100 sq. Ft. And it feels like a mansion! Thanks for the tour and sharing your journey. I just found you thru Domino, congrats on winning.
