How to Redecorate Without Any Money or Extra Resources

Got the itch to redecorate but don’t have any money? Also concerned with the impact of “fast home decor?” Me too. Here’s some ways to make your home feel fresh without spending any money or using any additional resources.

Rearrange your furniture
Sometimes all it takes is a little furniture rearrangement session to make your space feel completely new and different. It also might give your space a better flow. And the best part is, if you don’t like it, you can always change it back!

Shop your home
I purposefully keep my home in the same color scheme, so I can move things from room to room when I get the itch. Try moving pillows from the sofa to the bed. Use an old cup from the back of the cupboard for pen organization. Swap out your framed photos with pictures you haven’t seen in a while— you get the idea!

Swap with friends or family (or organize a community swap!)
I don’t know about you, but my family is always trying to give me their old home goods. If I don’t want it, I’ll politely decline, but sometimes it’s good stuff! Make sure you let your family or friends know you’re looking for stuff and open to swaps. If you really want to level up, organize a community decor swap. It’s like a clothing swap, but with decor!

Declutter
I know I’m a broken record with this one, but sometimes all it takes to make your home feel more spacious is a good decluttering session. Just remember to do it sustainably! My favorite places to donate my old stuff is my local Facebook Buy Nothing Group and a local women’s shelter. (If you need a decluttering plan, I’ve got a workbook! “The Two Week Declutter” is available here!)

Got any more ideas? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.

Superb! I’d also add some light re-decoration with houseplants and throw cushions to the list and maybe adding a dimmer or floor lamps – that might also go a long way in changing the atmosphere of a room.
