5 Simple Ways to Make Your Home Cozy For Fall

As much as I love the cooler days of fall, I do not love the days getting shorter and night falling at 5:00 PM.

But instead of sitting around under a blanket and complaining about it, this year I’ve decided to embrace the change and implement a few simple ways to make my home cozier.

  1. Added the fluffiest comforter I own to my bed. It’s so warm that sometimes I wake up sweating. Haha!
  2. I checked out some fiction from the library. It’s curling up with a good book season!
  3. Fall cleaned and decluttered my space. What a better time to clean and declutter than before guests arrive for the holidays?
  4. Stocked my pantry with easy, warming foods like soup and tea.
  5. Switched out the light bulbs in my bedroom’s fixture for Philips Smart Wi-Fi LED light bulbs

That last tip made the biggest impact because I can now use an app on my phone to brighten the lights for reading or dim the lights for watching TV. I love the warm glow of the lights. I love that I no longer have to fish around behind my bed for the cord to turn off the lights. I can just tap the app on my phone!

As someone who is terrible at setting her own bedtime and waking up in the morning – especially with the time changing – I love the fact that I can set a time for the lights to turn off at night, and on in the morning, through the app. It’s just the nudge I need to go to sleep and wake up in the morning.

Now tell me, how do you prepare your home for the cooler, darker days?

Wow. Thank you for this post. It helps me a lot to think what appropriate design to my house to feel comfortable and cozy because I’m planning to renovate it. and I also get some idea from other Commercial Joinery . I think this is really good combination of ideas.

Hi – I’d love to know where you found the off white baskets you use in your bedroom. They look to be made of fabric…and I think they’re great! Thanks so much!

Would love to know where you got your hanging lights! They’re lovely and seem to be just what I’ve been looking for.
