What You Want to See from Me in 2020

Recently I asked my newsletter what they wanted to see from me in 2020 and y’all delivered! I don’t want my blog to be a one-way conversation and I definitely want everyone to know I’m listening, so this post is a response to those comments. And again, thank you for the input!

Here are your responses to the question: What else would you like to see from me?

Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays! I hope you all have a relaxing and restful end of the year. Don’t let the stress of the holidays or the stress of spending too much time with your weird family get to you.

I’m signing off for the rest of the year so I can have time to reflect on goals, things I didn’t accomplish and things I did accomplish. Speaking of things I did accomplish, I’m taking a two-ish week break from the ol’ blog, but I am still emailing out my ebook, “The Ultimate Guide to Living in an RV, Airstream or Motorhome” and I’m still mailing out pins at a reduced price in case you are interested.

Here’s wishing you and yours the best holiday break,

Spring Cleaning!

Airstream and Garden copyHey ya’ll! Just popping in today to point you to a new resource I’ve created. As I get more new readers, I realize that they might not be familiar with my story. Thus, I created a “New? Start Here!” page for those folks. For my old readers, I hope that it can also serve as a go-to resource for small livin’.

If you read this blog the old fashioned way, you’ll see I’ve created a new tab at the top of the page. If you read it via RSS feed, you might not see it. But don’t fear, just click here. My mobile peeps should be able to see it via the menu drop down.

Let’s do this, spring!

A Little Reminder about Submissions!

Airstream in the snowy woods

It’s a snow day here (although it hasn’t snowed yet!), but it is the perfect time to remind you that I take submissions for this blog. I’m specifically looking for people who live in a tiny house, in an Airstream, in a bus or in a van. I’m also looking for people who have recently downsized their lives and people who simply live “unconventionally.”

I’m also currently taking pitches or other ideas you might have for columns that focus on simplicity, small living and minimalism.

A Small Life is read by thousands of readers each day and could be a great opportunity to get your business/house/bus/life/Instagram/etc. seen!

Please send submissions to asmalllifemelanie at gmail.com. Submissions should include at least 4 photos (jpg or jpeg) that are at least 540 pixels wide. If chosen, I will contact you with further instructions.

I can’t wait to hear from you!

A Technical Update

via Death to Stock Photo

via Death to Stock Photo

Hey ya’ll! I’m just dropping in on this happy hump day to let you know that things are changing a bit around here. You might not notice it too much, but if you’ve been reading the blog at love-library.com, you might need to change your bookmark. I’m going to be blogging from asmalllife.com now to more accurately reflect where this blog is going. The old pins should work too, but if you find any broken links, let me know! asmalllifemelanie at gmail dot com.

Thanks for your support. I truly appreciate each and every one of you!!

Come work with me!

Desk in an Airstream

This little ol’ blog is growing! I just adore all the extra attention that it has gotten lately, but as someone with two jobs (other than this blog), a dog and a husband, I just can’t do it all. Sometimes a girl needs a little help. That’s why I’d like to hire a web developer to help me clean up some of the backend junk on my site and get a few new things going.

I’d love to hire someone who is already familiar with my site. This person needs to have knowledge of HTML, CSS, WordPress and SEO. This person can live anywhere, but they need to possess excellent email communication skills. If you think you can help, email me asmalllifemelanie at gmail.com and we can talk more about the details of the project. This is a paid position, obviously.

Please feel free to pass this along to friends! I hope to hear from you!

Switching Things Up!

airstream 2Not one to stay stagnant, I’m in the process of switching things up over here. I’ve finally pulled the trigger and changed the name of this blog to “A Small Life.” I think it more accurately describes what I’m actually doing here. Love Library served it’s purpose, but it never really had anything to do with what I was writing about. It took me a while to find my voice and find what I loved writing about but I think I’ve finally found it. And just in time because soon I’ll be revealing photos of our completed Airstream! We’ve been living in it a year and I am still smitten with the small life.

So what does it mean for you? Hopefully nothing! The last time I attempted to do this, I ended up deleting most of my pictures and totally screwed things up. But this time, I’ve just set it as a redirect, so hopefully you will be able to see things under my old site name and my new site name. I’ve also changed my name on social media so look for me on Instagram as “ASmallLife” and over on Twitter @a_small_life.

Thanks for your support!

love (as always),

Perpetuating Positivity

moccasinsI’m not a naturally positive person. I’m not. I always imagine the worst case scenario. But I do try my the best to find the best in other people because I have no idea what that person is going through. I don’t. And I share a lot on this blog, but you don’t know what I’m going through either.

I try to be understanding and positive. Oh my do I try. I have a full-time job that centers around customer service and if I didn’t try to see the best in people, I’d run out of there screaming. I also spend a damn lot of time on this blog. I don’t make money from this endeavor. I’d love to do so, but for now I’m spreading my knowledge and sharing my life with you all for free. And man do I appreciate anyone who reads this little blog.

But lately I’ve been getting more and more negative comments. And I do appreciate a healthy debate, but I must say once and for all that negativity and just plain rudeness will not be tolerated on this blog. I hate that I even have to acknowledge these anonymous meanies, but this will be the only time I do so. Just because someone saves money differently or has different living standards or even eats a different diet doesn’t make it wrong. Things in life aren’t black and white. What works for me might not work for you. That’s cool. Start your own blog with your own discoveries. But I won’t approve your mean and nasty comments here. As we southerners say, “I will not tolerate ugly talk.” This blog is about perpetuating the positive and living a small, honest life.

Thank you to all my long-time readers. You bring joy to my life each and every day. I keep doing this because of you.

As always. With love,
melanie

On the Road

Tropical drinks on the beach

You might have noticed that things have been a little quiet around here this week. It’s because I’ve been on an epic road trip. I’m still on it, in fact! I’m currently updating from our last stop with wi-fi. We’ve gone all over Florida and I’ll be sure to update ya’ll soon. It’s a much-needed break and I’m trying to not be on the Internet the entire time. If you want to follow me in real time, remember you can always follow me on Instagram @lovelibrary.

Talk soon!
