I knew that the challenge would be extra hard for me since I got rid of a lot before I moved into the Airstream. But, the Airstream has been feeling a little cramped lately and I love a good purge.
This first week was easy, but it reminded me that I definitely need to clean out my medicine cabinet more often. I had medication stored in there that was 8 years old! How embarrassing!
Here’s what I got rid of (or plan to sell)
1. Old beach hat
2. 2 contact lens cases (Don’t need those anymore!)
3. Eye makeup tattoos and nail art wraps (A gift that was too weird for me) & a nail scrubbie
4. Library books (not actually getting rid of these, but I need to return them!)
5. Old medications (3), a small plastic bag and a linen bag
6. Old medications (6) and a glasses bag
7. Fake pair of glasses from Halloween, a cap to makeup I already used, a tank top I don’t wear, a flashlight case and rusty lids from canning jars (3)
Do you love a good purge like I do? Or does minimalism scare you (like it does my husband!)?
Talk to me in the comments!
love,
melanie
I really like this idea! The overall concept of purging the small stuff is awesome.. so often minimalism can seem daunting when you think in terms of all the big stuff, but this would be a simple step to take. Simple being a relative term… I have my daddy’s hoarder bone that deems everything with a shape as potentially useful at some future point in time. Cottage cheese, yogurt, sour cream “tupperware” have overrun my kitchen. And I’m 99% certain I still have a pile of neon eyeshadows from college that I haven’t been able to toss. Ugh. You inspire me! Need to throw some crap out!
Haha, George has the same hoarder bone. I got my dad’s THROWITALLAWAY!!! bone. It’s usually said in a fit of rage. LOL.
lol!! That’s amazing, pretty much the same with Damon and I!! I guess that’s one more way we balance each other out! (Except when it comes to shoes… that man and his shoes……)
Man, I totally could have joined up! However, it’d probably be considered cheating… I’ve been donating, selling, and tossing items for the past two weeks! We are downsizing into a smaller place and are getting rid of so much stuff. Great post. 🙂
Thanks, Christa! It’s great to reevaluate your stuff every now and then. A move is a great motivator 🙂
I like this idea. I am scared sometimes because the thought always creeps in that I may need it later but I never do and then forget about it!
Great post!! I just love getting rid of clutter!! It’s so liberating and makes us all realize that we don’t need all this stuff!!! If I haven’t worn it for a season, then it goes!!! If it stays in a cupboard without seeing the light of day, then it goes!! And if I can give it to someone who needs it, all the better!!
This is great! I love a good purge. This weekend I plan to start tackling my storage unit. It might be a bit of a challenge though since it is where I put the things I had a harder time parting with when I downsized into the Airstream. Some things I do still use, but others…well they are going to have to go. Great post to get me started. Thanks!
