This vintage camper makeover is super cute.

It’s my Friday! I work 4, 10 hour days during the summer. It kind of sucks, but at least I have a 3 day weekend! Cheers to that!

Frugal Friday: Dreamers that Do

Dreamers that do This month I finally hit a milestone financial goal. I’ve saved a huge (to me) chunk of money and I am so very proud of myself. Saving this amount of money has given me peace of mind. Don’t get me wrong, I still worry about money, but I feel much more safe now. I have a buffer, a fall-back plan, a rainy day savings fund. But more than peace of mind, having this money has given me the ability to dream.

When I was living paycheck to paycheck, I thought well, I’m going to work like this until I die. And then maybe I’ll work some more when I’m dead. There was no end in sight and no room to dream. With money in the bank, I now feel that I have room to dream and plan how I live my life. It is so liberating. I don’t know what the future holds, but I feel free to live life on my terms. It’s a beautiful thing.

Summer Goals 2014

This summer will definitely include beach time!

This summer will definitely include beach time!

For the past couple of years, I’ve set birthday goals. I usually set goals according to my age, 27 goals before 28, etc. but this year setting that many goals just seemed overwhelming. And goals should never be overwhelming, they should always be inspiring. Am I right? This year I decided to set just 7 goals for this summer. My goals are mostly fun, but also things that I’ve just been meaning to do for a while. Somethings, like getting my passport, I’ve been meaning to do for years!

Here’s my summer goals:

  1. Apply for passports
  2. Plan our summer vacation
  3. Help George open an IRA
  4. Make a dentist appointment (eww!)
  5. Fix the rust hole in the back of the Airstream
  6. Take pictures of the inside of our home!
  7. Learn a new skill

The summer also brings in a new schedule for me. I work 4 10 hour days during the summer and I have off on Fridays. It’s wonderful to be off on Fridays, but those 10 hour days are crucial! With my commute, it’s almost a 12 hour day, so I practically have to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at work! In the past I’ve spent my Fridays recuperating from the grueling week, but this time I have high hopes to use my Fridays to learn a new skill. We’ll see how it goes. You know I’ll write about it here!

Do you have any hopes, dreams or goals for this summer? I’d love to hear them in the comments!

27 Before 28: Birthday Goals List

280001 As promised, here is my birthday goals list. I was going to rewrite it, but hoping to turn over my “worry less” new leaf, I just scanned it in, straight from my journal. Keep me accountable, ya’ll!

love the (almost) birthday girl,

Love Lists: Birthday Goals List

I love a good list, ya’ll. And for the past couple of years, I have created a list of things I want to accomplish before my next birthday. (I was inspired by Elsie from A Beautiful Mess.) I can’t find my list from last year. I think I misplaced it when we moved, but I remember there being lots of specific, ambitious items on it. I distinctly remember “Get a big girl job” was high on the list.

But this year, I wanted to do something a little more fun. So, I gave myself quite a few rather fun goals and a few scary goals (see: #7) to accomplish before my next birthday, April 22, 2013. Some of my goals are quite personal (see: #15). But I am sharing because I think it is important to recognize that we all struggle with issues and we need to tell people about our struggles in order to overcome them.

Do you make goals on your birthday?
