George’s Office: Before and After

I’m both relieved and excited to be able to finally show you all the photos of my husband, George’s office. It’s been three years in the making. Although it’s a rather simple space, it’s taken a while to get right.

Guest Room Refresh

Ok, I know it seems like I just made over this room and I did! (See the old photos here.) But it just wasn’t functioning the way I needed it to. And, TBH, I wasn’t 100 percent happy with the colors.

5 Simple Ways to Make Your Home Cozy For Fall

As much as I love the cooler days of fall, I do not love the days getting shorter and night falling at 5:00 PM.

But instead of sitting around under a blanket and complaining about it, this year I’ve decided to embrace the change and implement a few simple ways to make my home cozier.

Budget, DIY, Colorful Guest Room Makeover

Daybed with dramatic curtains

We finally completed the guest room and it feels good! Well… to be honest, “Guest room” is kind of a loose term. Our guest room rarely functions like a guest room. One Room Challenge: Week 6: Small House Porch Makeover

Small house porch makeoverThis week was a whirlwind. We had so much to do and so little time. I feel like I sound like a broken record, but again, weather was not our friend. Yikes, y’all. One week to go with the One Room Challenge and I’m going to be honest: I don’t know if we are going to finish. We’ve still got quite a bit more to build and we’re relying on good weather– which doesn’t always happen around these parts. Continue reading

One Week Challenge: Week 4: Falling Behind

This week I’ve fallen a bit behind on the One Room Challenge because I’m currently in Chicago for the Domino Magazine’s Blog Awards! I’ll do a full post about it when I get back home, but it was so great to meet bloggers IRL– that’s internet talk for in real life ;)– and I’ve loved doing some sight seeing in Chicago. One Room Challenge Week 3: Getting Down and Dirty

A Small LifeFirst, I want to say thank you to everyone who voted for me in the Domino Magazine’s Design Blog awards in the Small Spaces Category I won! I can’t believe it! Next week, I’ll be flying to Chicago to go to the awards party. Be sure to follow along on my Instagram for real-time updates.

Onto the One Room Challenge update for Week 3! We’ve had a decent amount of good weather this past week, like more than one good day (I wish I was kidding!), so I’ve been able to get a reasonable amount done on the house.  Continue reading

One Room Challenge Week 2: Prep Work

Powerwashing

My dad helping me powerwash the house.

There are two major challenges that have made themselves apparent this week in my One Room Challenge. 1. The weather plays a huge factor in this project since it is outdoors. 2. I am not as young and spritely as I once was. Continue reading
